The origin of the Ophthalmological Centre
The origin of the current Gutiérrez Mazeres & Amorós Ophthalmological Centre (COGMA) can be traced back to the first ophthalmological surgery, run by Dr Carlos Gutiérrez Mazeres in A Coruña.
After a decade in business, and with the incorporation of his two ophthalmologist sons, Carlos Gutiérrez Amorós and José GutiÉrrez Amorós, and a healthcare team, the company "Gutiérrez Mazeres & Amorós oftalmólogos, S.L." was incorporated.
Professional career
Specialisation, self-imposed standards of excellence, and the incorporation of the most advanced technology of the moment have been the guidelines which have marked the pace of COGMA’s progress. The Centre’s promotion company was founded in 1992 with the objective of establishing an ophthalmological clinic divided up into specialities, and of attaining the highest levels of medical efficacy, in both diagnostics and therapy.
In 1995, the company’s ground-breaking calling would lead it to set up the first refractive ocular surgery clinic in A Coruña, where they started to apply Lasik, a technique for correcting myopia and astigmatism.
In 1997, COGMA opened new installations, modern premises, located in the Calle Posse in A Coruña, in order to offer its patients the best possible service.
Since then, and adhering to our principle of offering patients the best possible service, at both human and professional levels, we have constantly incorporated the most advanced techniques, in both diagnosis and treatment, for the different types of eye illnesses.
In 2009, continuing with our enthusiasm for guaranteeing our patients the best possible care with the most advanced technology, the Ophthalmological Centre extended its installations.
